A New Zao Church Plant

After more than thirty years of ministry, Pastor Mark and Cinda Urquhart are following God’s call to the Emerald Coast to plant Zao Freeport. Freeport is one of the fastest-growing communities in Florida, filled with young families searching for community, purpose, and hope, and nearly two out of three people in Walton County are not connected to a local church. Zao Freeport carries the same heartbeat that launched Zao Church in Austin: helping people know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference. The name Zao comes from the Greek word Jesus used for “life” in John 10:10, and that is the mission here, to help people move from simply existing to truly living. Live real life, anchored in hope.

    Mark and Cinda move to Freeport and begin building relationships through-out the community. We will connect with local families, schools, businesses, churches, and community leaders while learning the unique culture of the Emerald Coast.

    Build the Team

    Gather and develop a Launch Team committed to helping establish Zao Freeport. Through interest gatherings, small groups, and leadership development, we will begin building the foundation of a healthy church family.

    Community Gatherings

    Host regular gatherings throughout Freeport and the surrounding area. These events will create opportunities to build relationships, share the vision of Zao, and connect people to authentic community before public services begin.
